The Journey of East Asia: Adventures through Stories, Games, and Maps
 
ONLINE FORMAT!  The East Asian Studies Center (EASC) at The Ohio State University is now accepting applications for the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) seminar for educators in Alabama, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and West Virginia. Please note that although teachers from all 12 states are eligible for the NCTA Seminar in any of the states, they can only attend one of the introductory summer seminars.
 

Build or enhance your tool chest to teach about East Asia through this free, introductory seminar that will examine the major trends, global issues, and historic foundations that shape East Asian society.  Focusing on the regions that comprise present day China, Japan, and Korea, participants will engage with experts and other educators in the field to gain the knowledge and resources to incorporate East Asia in the classroom.

 

36 hour NCTA online seminar includes:
  • Orientation session in June 9, 2021 (evening, online)
  • July 12 - 16 and July 19 - 23, 2021 (daily, online) 1:00 - 4:00pm EST.
  • Synchronous and Asynchronous sessions designed to optimize time together
  • Follow up in Sept/Oct, 2021 (Saturday afternoon, online)


Application deadline: May 31, 2021 (or when filled) will be given priority.

The Ohio seminar is coordinated by the East Asian Studies Center at The Ohio State University. Sponsors: University of Pittsburgh national coordinating site for the National Consortium for Teaching About Asia (NCTA) Asian Studies Center, University Center for International  Studies and a U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant to  the East Asian Studies Center at The Ohio State University.

Educators will be contacted about acceptance to the seminar.
