MIDWEST SIJO (KOREAN POETRY) STUDENT COMPETITION FALL 2024
 

The East Asian Studies Center at The Ohio State University presents a Sijo Competition for K-12 students in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to honor the traditional Korean form of poetry and introduce it to students. DEADLINE: October 1, 2024

DIVISIONS:

· High School (grades 9-12)

· Elementary/Middle School (grades K-8)

 

STATES:

Kentucky (KY)

Ohio (OH)

Pennsylvania (PA)

West Virginia (WV)
 

PRIZES:

· First Place: $250

· Runner(s) up: $150

Honorable Mention $100 prizes may also be awarded.

· Teacher of place winners will receive $100 of Korea-related materials

 

RULES:

· Open to Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia K-12 students.

· Students create original Sijo poem in English. One entry per student.

· Submit Sijo online by October 1, 2024.
