Critical Difference Professional Development Grant Application
Deadline April 1, 2025 
Grant may be used June 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025

Funds must be used towards professional development expenses, such as conferences and workshops, equipment, research activities, certifications, licensure exams, etc. 
 
This grant is open to ALL employees--of any gender--on any campus who have been continuously employed at Ohio State for at least one year. Faculty and staff are eligible for grants up to $1500. 

The award is also open to full-time students at the sophomore (second-year) level and above, including graduate and professional students. Students may be granted awards up to $1000. Students who will graduate in May 2025 are ineligible to apply.
 
**If you are seeking funding for an expense between January 1, 2026 and June 30, 2026, please wait and apply during the fall Critical Difference Professional Development grant application period (due November 1, 2025). 

NOTE: Applicants must complete the process in one sitting; the application form will not save data for later submission. Before you apply, please have all your information ready, including:

  • Years and amounts of previous Critical Difference scholarships or grants you've received (if applicable)
  • Your fiscal officer's name and email address
  • Essay on how the award will facilitate professional development, career mobility, or expansion of your professional network (250-500 words)
  • Detailed project budget
