The Schoenbaum Internship Program provides undergraduate students in the College of Education and Human Ecology an award of up to $3,300 per semester (depending on number of hours worked) while interning at The Schoenbaum Family Center and continuing progress towards a degree.  Selected interns can work up to 15 hours per week  as an assistant teacher, educating children from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds in The Schoenbaum Family Center classrooms. Hours are between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, in at least 3 hour blocks of time.  Students who are available for 15 hours will be given priority, however, if approved by the Schoenbaum Family Center Director, students may work fewer hours and those hours may be flexible depending on your academic schedule. Internships are offered during autumn, spring, and summer Semesters.

Interns will work with young children in infant/toddler classrooms (ages 6 weeks to 3 years) and preschool classrooms (ages 3, 4 and 5) assisting full-time teachers in providing excellent education and care in the Weinland Park neighborhood.  Interns will have the opportunity to expand skills with young children in classroom management, guidance and discipline, family relationships, curriculum development and implementation.

Special consideration will be given to students who graduated from Columbus City Schools and/or transfers from Columbus State Community College. Awardees will be selected by the director of the Schoenbaum Family Center in consultation with the Office of Student Financial Aid.
